| Mixed media Felt Scarf |

|
Felt is a non-woven cloth that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing woolen fibres. While some types of felt are very soft, some are tough enough to form construction materials.
Many cultures have legends as to the origins of felt making. Sumerian legend (3rd Century) claims that the secret of felt making was discovered by Urnamman of Lagash. The story of Saint Clement and Saint Christopher relates that while fleeing from persecution, the men packed their sandals with wool to prevent blisters.
At the end of their journey, the movement and sweat had turned the wool into felt socks.
I
FELT inspired to include some texture and colour into my creative world. I have
always had a fascination for producing textiles and FELT that naturally dyed wool was
a perfect place to start.
Here are some of my latest felt creations. Please look at the catalogue for
latest available stock.
If you would like me to make a hat in another colour, then please let me know.

Felt Hats
My
passion is making funky, eyecatching and unique felt hats. They are lightwieght, warm and water resistant and have a
personality all of their own. I can make them to fit children through to men and every size in between.
Each is handfelted using 100% British wools or Australian Merino wool and I combine silk, chiffons and beads into my
creations. I can also make them in lots of different colours but no two are the same.

Felt Scarves
All my scarves are made using the Nuno felting
technique, which combines wool and loose weave fabrics to create wonderful fabrics which are lightweight and warm.
Each piece is different and very glamourous. The colour combinations of chiffon, silk and wool is endless.
